As I wandered about Beira in a culture-shocked daze, little beads of sweat wiggling down my forehead in the muggy heat, I heard my name ring out from across the street. Miss Lisa, Miss Lisa," cried a worried-looking woman hurrying towards me. "You mustn't be here. This road is very bad. It's not safe for you."

Mozambique Earth at its most raw and beautiful

I had only arrived in Mozambique's second city a few hours before and at first didn't recognise the woman. Then I realised: it was Octavia, the receptionist in my hotel. "Down that passage," she said, pointing over the road to a cavernous space beneath a bullet-marked high-rise concrete slum. "It is not good. Very bad people here. I think it's better you go back now."

Forgotten island the ultimate beach escape

July 5, 2010 |12:46 | Destination Guide | Gossips  By : Team X

THIS morning, I jumped off my outrigger, bought a pair of pearl earrings for $2 on a near-deserted beach, jumped back on the boat and sailed off. Boracay, you delicious creature, you've taught me an essential lesson: one must always carry change when island-hopping in South-East Asia.

Turtle Island Fiji - Where the Stage is Set for Romance

One thousand feet above the shimmering South Pacific, the controls of our seaplane were placed in my hands. I was the pilot for fifteen minutes as our private aircraft soared over translucent turquoise waters around the Yasawa Islands.

As the half-moon shaped beach of Turtle Island came into view, I handed back the controls to the professional pilot for our descent and landing. In one final moment of exhilaration, the seaplane skimmed the surface of the ocean and slowed to a halt: we had arrived, and in style.

The staff of Turtle Island was waiting on the beach to 'welcome us home' by cheering the traditional greeting, 'Bula'! Delivered with more punch than 'Aloha' this Fijian greeting is just one example of the local spirit. Before guests even exit the plane the first ritual begins: women are whisked to the beach in the arms of Fijian warriors. Safely ashore, Michael and I raised a guava cocktail to a different type of vacation.

Bora Bora Paradise Island in France

April 12, 2010 |11:36 | Destination Guide  By : Team X

Bora Bora is not only a delicious drink, it is arguably the most beautiful island on the Earth. It is situated about 160 miles northwest of Tahiti and was discovered in 1722. This island took its name from the local Tahitian language and since there is no “B,” in it, so the island is actually called Pora Pora, and means “first born.

Bora Bora Paradise Island in France.

”Bora Bora is a volcanic island surrounded by coral reefs and stunningly beautiful lagoon. French is spoken here and the population is 4, 650, land area – 44 sq km (16.9 sq miles). The climate is very warm and humid, mostly sunny weather. As far as this island depends on tourism, it is besieged by luxurious resorts and hotels (I like the most their bungalows on stilts), they offer unforgettable views on mountains and the lagoon. Bora Bora is perfect for snorkeling, shark feeding excursions and even scuba diving.
